For this week i chose to work with intellectuall property and how i can make sure that i share my work and projects the way i want with other people and other designers. This week's assignment is to develop a plan for dissemination of your final project prepare drafts of your summary slide (presentation.png, 1920x1080) and video clip (presentation.mp4, 1080p HTML5, < ~minute, < ~10 MB) and put them in your root directory
Intellectual property was always a tricky but the same time interesting thing for me. As an architect and a maker i am always excited to share my works and inspirations with other people but the same time i am worried about how people can reproduce and use my idea. Creative commons gave me a new perspective since i didnt know from where to start and what exactly i wanted. Some simple questions really helped me to place my ideas and worries into the right place. I started with the webpage Common creatives and then share your work
But what exactly Creative Commons is doing. As is written in their web page "Creative Commons helps you legally share your knowledge and creativity to build a more equitable, accessible, and innovative world. We unlock the full potential of the internet to drive a new era of development, growth and productivity. With a network of staff, board, and affiliates around the world, Creative Commons provides free, easy-to-use copyright licenses to make a simple and standardized way to give the public permission to share and use your creative workâon conditions of your choice."The most important thing for me was the fact that they have a lot of programs and one of them is culture and art that refers directly to my case. Sometimes artistic work is so complicated to share that one cannot set the right limits.
I started with share your work and and then choose a licence. Then i had to answer two questions. If i want to allow adaptations of my work to be shared and if i allow commercial uses of my work. After replying i got the message that my licence is Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International and that this is not a free culture licence.
Free cultural works are the ones that can be most readily used, shared, and remixed by others, and go furthest toward creating a commons of freely reusable materials. A non free cultur licence was exactly what i was need it since i wanted to set some limitations concerning the reproduction of my work by other people and designers especially when commercial aspects arise.
It is also important to inform people that you know your rights and that you know the right way to share and to protect your work. Creative commons give the option to publish in your webiste the licence you chose for your work and the way you protect it.It also includes a small logo that you integrate in the webpage as a reference link.
I love videos and all these years ihave learnt to wotk with different softwaredepending on the project. For fab academy i belive that a simple, effective and easy softeware as filmora will give me the rigt freedom and results. The video will be complete as soon as i have my final project ready.
The video i woud like to film will be a live demostration of the fabric and its interaction with people and space. A great inspiration is the video by the artist Pauline Van Dogen and her e-textile.
The conclusion of this week is that to know how to defend and share your work without to feel abused is as important as designing it.
